Following graduation from the joint law program (LL.B/JD) with University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy, Tiffani worked as a family law lawyer managing cases such as separation, divorce, custody, support and child protection. Most notably Tiffani committed to obtaining a successful divorce judgement of a same-sex marriage of non-resident parties who married in Ontario but were not able to obtain a divorce under the previous legislation.
The timeliness of this case opened up a dialogue for the Canadian parliament to legislate new procedures to permit divorces for non-residents in same sex relationships who married in Canada. At the same time Tiffani developed an immigration practice handling Pre-Removal Risk Assessment Applications, Humanitarian and Compassionate Applications, Applications for Refugee Protection, Appeals to the Immigration and Refugee Board and Applications for Leave and For Judicial Review in the Federal Courts of Canada.
In the years that followed Tiffani went to work for a progressive and leading southwestern Ontario law firm specializing in family law litigation. Once there, she maintained challenging litigation files for a senior partner. These litigation files together with expanding her portfolio of immigration matters allowed her to develop a rich experience. This includes immigration matters of detention reviews, temporary work permits, permanent residents in the economic class and spousal sponsorships.
After much reflection, Tiffani wound up the family law practice to focus exclusively on U.S. and Canada immigration by associating herself with senior immigration lawyers who have worked in the practice of immigration for combined total of 20 years. This association under senior lawyers leveraged Tiffani’s skill set to a higher level by advising employer clients in NAFTA work permits, work permits under the IEC class and the temporary foreign worker class including labour market impact assessments.
Tiffani’s litigation background and ongoing immigration advisory experience has prepared her to diligently to manage a new type of law practice with a broad range of representations that focus on client care and responsiveness. This helps her clients immigrate to Canada through the various and constantly changing programs under Canada’s immigration policies.
Outside of her practice, Tiffani enjoys traveling to foreign countries, and experiencing new cuisines and cultures. She is also a part time paralegal instructor at a private college in her community.
